Eternal Life – Daily Journal
John 3:16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 5:24 ESV
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
Eternal life is a topic continued from yesterday’s topic of longevity. Eternal or infinite life is a tough idea to grasp when thinking about our life on earth. We see death every day. So what does this really mean? I feel this has many layers.
By studying the stories told in the bible this is what it means to me right now. Pain and suffering are a truth here on earth. Freedom from this is part of what is meant by eternal life. This is stated. I think we get a glimpse of this every time we find comfort in these passages or even when we experience miracles. OR even the thought that God has a plan for us – it’s in His hands.
I know one thing for sure, the thought of eternal life in heaven sure sounds great. It is also stated that Heaven cannot even be imagined…it’s that good! Have a great Friday!
