This one has been in the queue for a while. I used an Amsteel whoopie all last year for both lineman belt and tether. ***Please inspect and splice Amsteel according to manufacturers requirements. I also tie the loose end of the whoopie to a carabiner or saddle bridge for extra security.
Let me know what you think. Not sure this is used much – there are definitely disadvantages and advantages to this style of rope.
*Bonus advantage if you use the whoopie for your accessory belt! Get the Hooks here.
Advantages
- Lightweight
- Small and compact for packability
- Bonus use for accessory belt with hooks and one less piece of gear to carry.
Disadvantages
- Might be some extra time to set up (some time to get used to)
- The lightweight material can get hung up on the bark of some trees, making climbing take a little time.
I am sure there are more of each, but these are the main ones I worked through!
